Yes it is possible and I have it working on my site. Members can chat with staff in private and the thread is only viewable to the thread starter and the staff. vbulletin is really flexible and you can set it up whichever way you want even without any hacks or addons.

I want to use it as a Q/A kind of mechanism i.e people can ask questions to a person so the control flow will be like this -

1. Member will post a thread
2. It will be answered by the Admin (i.e. Me)
3. Only member who started the thread and Admin can reply in that thread
4. The Q/A will be visible to everyone, including guest users
5. New threads will be at Top and older one at bottom, I don't want threads with newer replies to be at top.

I am sure most of it can be done using some tweaks/mods, but still just want to make sure its possible in vB as I don't want to build my own system which can take 10x more money and is unstable and unsecure.

Do you have any good example of sites using vb like above ?
