Running a news site with vbulletin?

Hello,

I am developing a community news site and I have been looking at vbulletin for quite a while. I am hoping to be able to use the vbulletin system to post news to the front of the site as well as various articles.

The articles and news would need to be formatted differently when displayed/viewed.

Is VBulletin capabile of this kind of a thing? In the past I have had very complex CMS systems but I was hoping to avoid this and use the user permisisons system and such from vB to control who can publish news/articles etc.

Are there plugins/extensions that would fullfill these kind of needs?
I've done it manually in the past with PHPBB but I am going to be running a higher traffic website and am hoping to use a professional bulletin board system.
