Hosting service for PHP Forum

I currently have a phpbb on Powweb hosting - It runs very slow at times. How can I tell if vBulletin will run the same on that host?

Is there something I can check for speed requirements?

I saw the test file to see if the host has the right set up, and I'm sure they do, but worried about the speed.

If your site is running slow with phpBB, then I would guess that you won't have much luck with vB as it takes more resources.

My guess is your on an overcrowded shared server, I would suggest either moving host, or upgrading your server before purchasing vB.

Is there anyway to tell if it's an overcrowded server? At times it works just fine, but most times not.

Also keep in mind, that it is not all about space and bandwidth. In consists of, performance, support ect...

That's called overselling - its one sign of a rubbish host.

your site is fast, but if it's shared hosting it's only a matter of time.... all servers start out fast when there are not many sites on them. I hope you continue to have good luck...

Thanks for the suggestions - I want to use vBulletin - but I think the hosting company has more than they can handle and our forum is REAL SLOW - it's phpbb - and in my first questions, someone told me vBulleting is larger or takes more space that it does so I want to move to somewhere I can get good reponse times before my users all give up.
