    MySQL 4.1.22 supports character sets and collations including UTF-8.

    The version of MySQL in my share hosting is 4.1.22-standard.

    I had no problem in my Spanish UTF-8 board with vbulletin and MySQL 5.0.45. It's just the minimum required version of MySQL that doesn't allow UTF8 from what Wayne says, but you can have higher

    I have noticed that there is the option of UTF-8 Test in the Quick Language chooser here.
