You would leave vBulletin due to progress?

I would once again leave vBulletin if vBulletin 4.0.0 didn't have a significant overall improvement from the administrator control panel to the default theme. vBulletin can't afford to miss the step forward into Web 2.0 or perhaps, Web 3.0 - especially not when their competitors from both the premium & free realms are already stepping up to the plate.

vBulletin 3.7.0 is a good first step, it needs improvements from the tagging system to the user galleries (allowing comments for pictures) - I even feel the social groups could be better. Most of these gripes will either be changed by vBulletin developers or perhaps by a developer at vBulletin.org.

True, it is a marketing tactic for almost every product in the world - "claim to be the best."

I have never been a "fanboy" as most of you know. I decide which product offers the most of what I need & desire. IPB is absolutely awesome when it comes to their profile system & their administrator control panel - not to mention the best looking skins I have ever seen were made for IPB.

But, I chose vBulletin once more...why?

vBulletin is simply the best overall forum software on the market. Sure it may have flaws...however, I can assure you that vBulletin's flaws are few when compared to a competitor such as IPB (I owned a IPB license and gave it away at TAZ, as I felt it just wasn't offering me what I needed). I can deal with a 1990's administrator control panel for the next year & a half - with hopes that the next major update will be more focused on those who want a change, a major step forward.

If you want the best, you have to realize that the best is often times slower at progress than the underdog. The Market leader has to feel the pressure before changes are implemented. That has always been the case.

As the old saying goes "If it isn't broken, don't fix it.", while the underdogs are always thinking "the current system is outdated, how do we bring it into the here & now?"

I am just glad to see vBulletin is finally stepping out of the 1990's & realizing the potential for something greater, beyond just a forum...vBulletin is becoming a complete community solution!

I meant cosmetically. If it starts looking like any of the other mb out there. My main reason i bought vB was because of it's looks.

I am closing this thread as it is now off-topic from the original question and that has been answered. If you have suggestions for 3.7 and future versions of vBulletin please make them in the Suggestions Forum.
