  • A question around "Copyright Visibility"

Not exactly pre-sales, but I couldn't see another forum to ask this in...

We all know that the Copyright must be visible, assuming one hasn't purchased Branding Removal.

One of my customers, when asking me whether I could make his copyright text the same colour as his background and receiving a 'no' from me, pointed me at a site and asked if I could make it like they had (see attached).

I explained that would most likely be in violation of the EULA, and he agreed.

Can a Jelsoft rep please confirm that the below colour choices are not kosher?

It would need to be clearly visable and readable, which it is not.

Awesome, thanks for the clarification Zach.

Now, off to the usual place I go in situations like this: http://www.vbulletin.com/piracy.php

I just want to ask can we change the powered by vBulletin text, not the copyright text?

Because i have seen on one forum, it was like this:

          Powered by sitename.com
          Copyright ©2000 - 2007, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.

Are we alowed to do like this?

No, as the powered by stands for who creates the script not where or who it is hosted by.

It is who makes the script. So the answer would be no.

No. You must have 'vBulletin' and you cannot insinuate the site is powered by anything else.

I actually went to the admins of the site in question, but they brushed me off and said 'Thanks, but I can read it'.

                  Figures...

I guess they will be hearing from vB.

You'd think so, but nope. Many days later, the copyright is still black on very dark green.
