  • Can I make vBulletin have features like IPB?

I am really stuck on choosing between vBulletin and IPB. The thing that I like about vBulletin is that it has more support and customization options than IPB. Here are the features that I like from IPB that I haven't seen in vBulletin but would want to know if I can make it like that (through mods or something) :
    1. First, I don't like the default skin and I would like to change it. I haven't seen any good websites that support vBulletin skins. So if someone could link me so I can view the support of skins available for vBulletin. I want it to look like IPB's Classic Blue skin. If you have seen good skins (that I can buy or get access to) please let me see it. This could be the deal breaker.
    2. Second, where can I get a mod like this? http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/LuckeyStoke/ Its like a myspace integrated into vbulletin. IPB has their own profile system like this.
    3. Third, the registration checkbox. (Ajax?) like it will have a checkmark and an "x" if you type in the right or wrong thing or if a username or password doesnt exist or if its mistyped. Is there a mod?
    4. Integrated Blog, Picture uploading and downloads? I know vBulletin has their own blog system, and so does IPB. How do they compare?
Thank you all for the support!

p.s. I have an old vbulletin database and I forgot which version of vbulletin it was. But it was about 2 years ago. It has over 300 members and 500 posts. if I buy the new version (3.6.8) how would I be able to transfer that?

    1. Here is the online documentation for styles and templates:

    http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/styles_and_templates

There are a number of free vBulletin Styles available to licensed customers here:

    http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=95

There are also vB styles available at vBulletin.org:

    http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=161

2-4. The vB mod site is here: www.vbulletin.org

P.S. Yes, you will be able to upgade the old vB database to the latest version.

The problem is that I don't have the old vbulletin installed (I left godady hosting) and all I have that is left is the database. What can I do?

All you need is the database in order to do the import.

Can you give me a more detailed explanation? How would that work? I install a new vbulletin then import my old database?

You would restore your database following these instructions:
            http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/m...ce_ssh_restore

Then you would either upgrade that database using vBulletin's upgrade.php script or use ImpEx to import it into a new vBulletin Install. I usually recommend going the upgrade route as it is the simplest and easiest route.
