  • vBulletin or not vBulletin, that's the question

    Hi all,

As an old Vbulletin member I am considering moving back to Vbulletin, especially seeing so much development going on here.

However, before doing so I have some questions about importing my current database.

My forum is currently running on Simple Machines Forum, version 1.1.4 together with Tinyportal.

In the manual of Vbulletin I see that the Impex importer is working with version 1.1.2. I am curious if anybody here has experience with importing my config(1.1.4) with Impex. I need to know it works before I make the transfer.

Another question, does Impex drop all other tables or data which is not imported(for example, Tinyportal tables)?

Thanks in advance for answering my questions.

If it doesn't work with 1.1.4, we'll update the importer.

Imopex will only import the default SMF data. It will ignore data from add-ons.

Again, if it doesn't work with 1.1.4 we can update it with test data, have you tried yet?

Did you go though a full import cycle including rebuild the caches?

Yes, we have an import script for phpBB. You can read about it here:

Well I'll have to wait for a couple of months to purchase a license because I didn't know you charge $135 to install it. Thats not in my budget right now.

That's an optional service if you want to have the professional installation (meaning that they install it). This can be added later if you need it, but a majority of people don't.
