Migration from PHPBB to VB

Morning / Afternoon (depending on local )

After much searching and testing I have decided that I want to use VBulletin for my forums (http://www.theotherxbox.com) instead of PHPBB2 which I use now, PHPBB3 looks nice but lacks VB's wealth of options )

My questions are :

1.) Can I migrate data from my current MySQL (PHPBB) Database into VB

2.) If so can I pick and choose the data

3.) If I do import the data will it leave the actual forum options untouched or will it alter them accordingly (member groups and that kind of thing)

1. Yes You can.


2. Depends, but generally everything is imported, if you choose to import users, they all get imported, forums etc.

3. ImpEx is read only for the source database. It does not alter anything from your phpbb install.

Thanks for the quick reply Zachery.

I think I worded question 3 wrong!

What I meant was will the data import ignore the PHPBB settings and not carry them over into the VB setup. I really only want my data, don't need user groups, ranks, smilies etc.... (Lots of crap I don't want bringing over basically, just the users and the posts themselves.)

The import does not import settings. Smilies are optional, attachments are optional, usergroups are required to import the users but can be deleted afterwards. Our importer tells you if something is required to import something else.
