Can VB be set up to use external UserIDs and passwords?

I think that title says it all.

We've already got a site with a members only area that uses userIDs and passwords. We're looking for a BBS that can be configured to work with those ID/passes already set up, so users don't have to re-register, etc.

FWIW - IDs & passes are not in a MySQL DB.

Do you need to know anything else?

As of this time theres no default vBulletin option to use information from a database, let alone a non mysql database.

It would probally require extensive modification/customization of vBulletin to work like that.

There was a hack released over at vbulletin.org for basic ldap authetication but you may need to modifiy to suit your setup.
