  • Problem with testing configuration

    I seem to have things almost working to where I can purchase and install VB (and upgrade my Discusware forum). But, when I run the vb_test.php file and enter the information, I get no Pass or Fail information- just a blue VB screen. Any thoughts? What am I missing?

    Have you got a screenshot?

      I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to create a screenshot. It is just on an unused domain, so if you are willing to take a look it is as www.freespiritliqueur.com/vb_test.php

      Details for fields:
      localhost
      brewhaus_forum
      forum_user
      frmpsswd

      I will continue to try creating a screenshot, but my lack of experience in doing so could be part of the problem.

        Have you tried deleting that file then reuploading it?

        If so, do you have a phpinfo.php file? If not create a text file with this content:
        PHP Code:
        <?php
        phpinfo
        ();
        ?>
        Name it 'phpinfo.php' then upload it to your forum directory and post the URL here. This will help us troubleshoot the problem.

          That is a blank DB created as per the instructions on VB's site )for setting up a MySQL Database on the Command Line).

          The phpinfo file was in place as www.freespiritliqueur.com/index.php. I have not put things onto the site that we will use, as I was concerned changing the .php extension on that site could break our current forum.

            I don't see any MySQL support built into your PHP.

              I see that PHP 5 does not have this enabled by default, where PHP4 does. I am now trying to find either how to properly install version 4, or how to enable MySQL in version 5. If anyone has the instructions handy, please let me know.

                I finally have everything working. After following several sets of instructions on how to properly install PHP to run with MySQL, I finally found one that got me there. Thanks for the help- it told me what to look for.

                    Yup- Now I have purchased VB, and just have to install it and import our Discusware forum over. Supposedly there is an import utility to handle this.

                      You can download Impex from the Members Area where you download vB.

                      Also to get vB support on these forums you need to register for Priority Forum Support. To do this, please go here:
