  • Windows Server questions

    Hello everyone,

Before I pull the trigger and purchase a license I have a few questions.

I am setting up a small website for my corporations Help Desk. We determined that a forum would be the easiest way to share information on the fly between the various worldwide sites. Our company uses only Windows based web servers. I know that these servers do not currently run PHP because I used the test link provided here http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=181384.

What do I need to do/install before installing vBulletin? Is there any major issues when using vBulletin in a Windows enviroment instead of Linux?

    hi,

You will need to install php (www.php.net) and MySQL (www.mysql.com) and for some optional vBulletin functionalty other PHP librarys might be need such as gd or ImageMagick) , CURL etc etc but those are optional you however will want GD or IM (antispam system in vBulletin)

PHP installation and configuration manual http://be2.php.net/manual/en/install.windows.php

There are no Windows specific issues with hosting vBulletin. I have used a Windows-based system to host vBulletin since around 2001 with no problems whatsoever.
