    If it's a phpBB forum then you need a backup of the phpBB database.

      So then the ".dat" backup file of my phpBB forum should be good to import to vBulletin?

        That depends. What is in that .dat file exactly? Usually a MySQL database backup has an .sql extension.

          I'll ask the freeforums.org admin.

          I got the file by going to the phpBB cpanel and there is a backup feature. So I backed up my forum and then it allows you to download the backed up .dat file, which I did. I'd assume it would back up the entire forum, otherwise it would be a pointless feature.
