    Using VBulletin as messaging solution

We are developing a subscription based site that requires member-to-member messaging. The messaging solutions we see commercially seem to charge per user, and it is quite expensive.

Could we realistically use VBulletin for this?

Is it difficult to make the needed graphic/functional changes, like eliminating links to Bulletin Boards(!), Search, New Posts Member List, and calendar, that appear above, and replace with our own graphics?

Only messaging, profiles, and chat would be required for paid subscribers.

    Any insights would be appreciated.
