IP Addreses

Hi,
I do not know if this is the correct forum to post in, but I have a question regarding IP Addys. I am a moderator who has administrative access, BUT I am not the owner. However, I have received pm's in the past from members wondering if other members can track their IP address from one of their posts.
We have a few members that like to track people, (they have no mod or administrative powers, they are just regular members), and they have said they can get an IP address if someone replies and posts to one of their threads. I do not think this is possible. They also have said that if someone replies to one of their pm's they can get their ip address that way too.
I just don't see how that could be possible, and I would like to be able to reassure other members that this can't be done. And even if they got the ip address, is there really anything malicious that they do with it?
The owner has given me his customer #,giving me permission to post questions here, (but i'm not sure what forum I'm supposed to ask in), and i can give the customer # to the administrator if he needs to verify who i am.

Yes this is possible if the Admin set it up this way.

For specific support, have the license owner go here:

...and enter your email address in one of the boxes. Once you've he's this, please post in the appropriate support forum for your version.

Ok, I just went there, my email address is already being show there as address number 2.

If that were true you would be showing up as licensed and you aren't. If you need further assistance with that, fill out a support ticket at:

thank you for your help. I believe I may have figured this out. Yes, what I said is the truth. I can see my email addy listed in the second line, but it's not the same address as this user name is registered to. So I have now changed my email addy to match the one needed for permission, and I see where it says it may take up to an hour for the changes to be activated. So I will try again tomorrow.
Sorry for the inconvenience, I should probably be utilizing this forum much more, I was just unfamiliar where I should post my question.
