A Few Questions

I have read several posts regarding requests for enhancements to the Calendar System and believe you are planning this for vB 4, is that correct?

My biggest calendar request is for the ability of usergroups to be subscribed to a calendar to receive reminder emails. There are several other suggestions by the member here that are fantastic ideas. Will you be planning to make as many of these suggestions as possible become reality in vB 4?

What is the ETA for vB 4 to be released? 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, a year, etc.?

It's been a couple of years since I owned a license and ran a vB site and I'm planning to start a new BB for the upcoming minor hockey season in the next couple of weeks, so I'm a bit foggy with the upgrade procedures.

If I decide on Vb as the BB software, I plan on doing some hacking with my installation, mostly in the postbit and navbar areas. When upgrading to a newly released version will I have to perform these hacks each time I upgrade?

Have there been anymore button / icon /smilie sets created for different colour schemes than there used to be? The default blues ones do not look good with darker backgrounds because your get some white showing from underneath these gifs drastically taking away from the overall quality of the site. Are different coloured versions of these gifs available in psd or ai format so we can set the background colour so the white does not show up?

I plan on running vBadvanced as site main page. Will vBa continue to be supported by you in the foreseeable future, or are there plans to discontinue it?

Detailed answers to these questions will have a great deal of influenace on my decision to buy or not.

Yes, we have plans for a vbulletin version 4. But this is in the status of Research & Development. NO functionality is set in stone yet so we can not comment on anything right now. This includes even guessing a release date.

Right now version 3.6.2 is what you should run if you wish to run vbulletin.

vBulletin Advanced is NOT a vbulletin official sister site, nor do we even support their third party source code. You have to ask them for sales/support questions in regards to their development.

There is currently no projected release date for another version of vBulletin. All we know is that vBulletin is constantly in development and new releases will come in time.

By your definition of hacking, I'm going to be assuming you will be modifying templates. With each new release of vBulletin, there MAY be a chance you will have to revert templates and make changes. Alternatively, you could also just compare the two templates with the View History Function and implement the changes manually. In the announcement forum, you can see previous releases and the template list changes. Some of them have listed you need to "Revert" in order to gain functionality.

As for smilies, they were changed with the new vBulletin 3 generation. Of course, you could always add your own. AFAIK, there is no smilie kit available to download in the members area.

vBulletin Advanced is not a product of Jelsoft, nor is the company who develops it is associated with Jelsoft in any form. You will need to ask them whether they will be continuing to develop vBadvanced.
