Dumb question...

I'm going to purchase a license to host a message board. I've only ever used free boards (proboards, ezboards, etc) but now I wanna get into a better type of set up but the question I have is do if I want to do that for just a message board, do I have to purchase a separate domain url? I'm sorry if that's been answered before and I spent all morning looking for an answer and didn't see it.

Yes, you'll need a domain name and hosting. If you already have a domain name you should also be able to use that though.
