  • Migration of Snitz 3.4.05 to vBulletin

My place of employment is currently looking at options to replace our current Snitz forum. The database is currently on an MS SQL Server database, and we're wanting to migrate the forum to a PHP/MySQL based forum so we can run it on a Linux box.

Is this possible? Is there already a converter for it? Would it be possible to have the vBulletin team to migrate our data from the Snitz forum over to the vBulletin setup for a fee?

    Thanks for your help.

Yes, there is an importer for Snitz. (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...itz#post678319)

You can probably find more info by snooping around the vBulletin Importer forum.

As far as I know, they don't offer an import service, but they will assist you along the way.

Thanks for your reply. I've been searching the forums for 'Snitz' and have found some threads about it. I also found this link http://www.vbulletin.com/faqsales which says Snitz but Snitz (MySQL) - so does that mean that MS SQL databases won't convert properly? Does anyone have any experience of doing this specific conversion without any complications?

      Thanks again.

Well, Impex won't connect directly to a MS-SQL server as far as I know (since vBulletin won't either), so I would assume you would need to export it from MS-SQL and import it into mySQL before you could use Impex to convert it to vBulletin.

ImpEx can read from a MS-SQL database and write to a MySQL database on the same import, there are a few importers that are multi souce version at the moment.

The snitz imported supports both MS-SQL and MySQL as a source, so you can do the import, you will just need MS-SQL support in your PHP.

            I wrote ImpEx.
