  • Migrating from phpnuke to vbulletin

I am considering moving our site, to vBulletin. We are currently using phpnuke as you can see.

I am not very savvy with php, and am finding as our site grows it's getting harder and harder to stay on top of things and add the modifications that make sense for us.

Will vBulletin do the migration for us? If so, what is the charge? I'd like all names and passwords to be retained in the migration. As well as the posts and topics in the forums.

Is this possible? I'd like to know before going back to my members.

    Thanks so much!

According to the vBulletin Purchace Page, the "Installation Service" includes the following (Please note the Installation service is NOT included with a normal license, it is an optional add-on component at the purchase page.):
    Professional Installation
If you select this service, our server technicians will install vBulletin directly onto your server.

Note: Each service ordered covers installation of one license on one server. Installation does not include importation of posts, user information, or styles from other forum software.
Therefore, packaging options do not allow for importation of any material from another medium. You could contact Jelsoft via email to see if they would setup a custom service for you; if not there is a great chance a coder would be glad to help you out for a couple dollars at the vBulletin Add-On resource website,

Also, I'd just like to give you a heads up that vBulletin, as is, is a forum software, not a full portal system and forum. There are free add-ons to create a portal like the one PHP-Nuke creates, but at default vBulletin does not offer that type of functionality.

      Gotcha, thanks!

I installed it and it is working like a charm. I have needed a little help from some of my members on getting the coding and syntax correct but so far so good:

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond!

That's the temp site, our regular site is hosted by Master Technology, the husband of one of our members.
