Private messages

Although it's not possible using vBulletin itself. Is it possible to view private messages by looking at the database?

In other words, could I, or any other owner, review private messages using phpMyAdmin or are the messages encrypted.

You can view them through the database.
They aren't encrypted.
There is also a hack at vbulletin.org which allows specified users to read other poeple's PM through the admincP.

Thankyou zappsan, I know it's possible to do with my current forum software (SMF) and in XMB. Logically it should be possible with all forums.

I'll need to add something to the site to inform our users that it is possible.
