  • Is Mod_rewrite necessary?

I have read about some SEO mod for vbulletin to produce clean urls.

I guess if is it necessary that my hosting do support to mod_rewrite or they are all managed via script.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Best regards.

As far as i know you have to have mod_rewrite enabled and activated...

We dont provide the SEO mod so you would have to ask at the authors site, I presume you need mod_rewrite though.

As we've said before SEO is an everchanging process and developing apache only code isn't something we're going to do. We use rel="nofollow" where appropriate and use the correct type of redirects that google respects.

The archive feature provides support for other engines and unlike what people say there is no duplicate content penalty for archive and showthread, one copy is simply dropped from googles archive.

So the simple answer is use a third party script if you want.
