I'm almost ready to commit here, but I am stalling on the conversion of my Snitz forum because I'm using an Access database, not MySql. Are there any good free tools to accomplish converting from Access to MySql without any data loss (other than the passwords) and do so relatively painlessly?

I don't know if Microsoft offers any tools to convert from Access to MSSQL or MySQL

I know our impex developer might be capable of doing this, but he is currently off duty if I remember correctly.

It would be much easier to convert to MSSQL, and from there convert to vBulletin.

Well, my problem here is that my site host only offers MSSQL with their top level hosting package, which is about double what I'm paying now. MySQL is offered for all packages - so that's what I've got to work with.

FWIW, I did figure that the first step would be converting my Snitz Access dbase into a MySQL and from there, move to VBulletin.

So, I have managed to find a Migration Toolkit here:

and was wondering if anyone has ever used this? It claims to migrate Access to MySQL via wizards. Since Snitz also works with MySQL it would seem that I can go ahead and migrate my database and get things settled before moving to VBulletin. Once the database is working and functioning in MySQL will I encounter any other problems when I upgrade to VBulletin? I assume the passwords thing will be part of the migration to MySQL and won't be an issue by this point.

Do you have a standard Snitz install or is it modded ?
