  • 3.0 vs 3.5

What is the difference between the two.

    Thanks

  • #2
There are major differences in the core/architecture. "Hacks" and Modifications written for vBulletin 3.0 will not work for vBulletin 3.5.

vBulletin 3.5 introduced Plugins and Products (collections of Products, Templates, etc.) which allow the execution of PHP code at over 500 points or 'hooks' within the vB code without having to actually modify the vBulletin source files.

vBulletin 3.5 introduced AJAX which allows administrators and moderators to do their job often on 1 page instead of loading pages back and forth.

There are several links around with the exact improvements between vB3.0 and vB3.5. Why are you considering 3.0?

I see no reason why (as a new customer, most likely) you'd consider the 3.0.x series at all. Go with 3.5.x.

This thread contains a short list of the new features that version 3.5.0 has over the old 3.0.x feature list.
