  • leased vs. owning...

with either option, I can do any programmable modifications cant I? For example...

    1. My wife and I own a dating site and rather than having our members making a new username/password just to use vbulletin, I plan on using our current database so our users can just click on forum, vbulletin signs their registered usernames from our site automaically.

    2. Have their photo automatically show up rather than choosing avatars.

    3. and of coarse, having the flash games that our members can compete for top scores.

    Yes, you can.

Though, you may just want to go for Owned if you plan on keeping the site for more than a year.
Congratulations on the death of vBulletin, Internet Brands.

Well there is no difference coding or progamming wise between the leased and owned. You can also do any coding modification as stated by Onimua. The only difference is that a leased licence will expire and then you need to renew or take off vbulletin.

On the other hand, if you have an owned licence you can have vB forever and get only one yr of software access and can renew yearly access for a very small fee.

Hope that helps you out a bit. Good luck with your board.
