    Conversion from ubb classic

We are looking to purchase this script, and are looking to also obtain help with importing our present forum.

If I could be sure of an easy conversion I would happily go ahead with this purchase today, please advise.

When looking at other scripts I did import from the ubb/forum.cgi files to mysql for phpbb, but it took three days as converter was online had to be clicked in browser window every 25 posts.

I am not sure of the rules on links here, so to see our forum search google for tubal forum and look for ultimatebb at #1. btw it took many hacks (for which I lost support) to get this ubb board fully indexed and validating. If you look at the code and search engine results of my board, compared to infopop's, they should have supported me, but anyway will be pleased to leave all this behind.

    Hi Ben:

Jelsoft does have a ubb_classic 6.3 - 6.7 to vBulletin 3.5 importer available. Conversion should be really simple and a matter of clicking a few modules.

It should look something similar to:

I won't know how long it takes for you to import your board as there are several variables including server resources, how larger your board is, etc.

    Hope that's of some help

I have just been asked "Have you considered UBB.threads for a php board? I've read that vbulletin isn't as hack friendly, where as UBB.threads has one of the largests most active hack communities."

Please tell me this is wrong and that you support "mods"

We have an entire site devoted to vB Modifications:

        www.vbulletin.org

However like any software company we cannot provide official support for code we did not write.

That's an interesting statement. From my personal experience from UBB.Classic & UBB.Threads, vB 3.5 is years ahead in term of features and modification friendly. With the new plugin system in 3.5.x, you install mods just like you install software on your computer. It takes literally seconds to install and uninstall. With the template system in vB, you can integrate the board into your site without having to mess with the source code. There are countless mods for almost everything that you can think of over at vbulletin.org.

With vBulletin 3.5, "hacking" is out of vogue. Instead, you write snippets of PHP code which are executed alongside vB as Plug-ins.

Jelsoft (makers of vBulletin) do not have a professional upgrade service. If, after trying to convert the forum yourself you find you are unable, you could solicit requests for this work over at vBulletin.org.
