Need help, re: testing before installing and mods.

Hi, I'm about to buy VBulletin but need to know something before I buy it.
I'm new to VBulletin but have been running PhpBB for years. I've read a lot of the VBulletin manual to make sure I know what I'm doing. But.... I like to be safe rather than sorry. I have two different servers and several domains. I planned on setting up a test version of Vbulletin on one server under a test domain so I get used to doing it before I go and install it on my main server and possibly have a problem and wipe out the site and have my 25,500 members start looking for my home address so they can come and kill me hehehe. Will I be able to do this or will this use my single license and leave me pooched to use it on my actual domain?

Also, I have the Global announcememnts MOD on my current PhPBB and was wondering if this will cause any problems when I try to import the database.

Also... I have the Attachments MOD on my PhpBB as well and am wondering if this will cause problems with the databsae import and also if it import all the attachment links in the posts and such.

    Thanks in advance.

You are allowed to have 1 production board and 1 password (.htaccess) protected test board on each license.

The import will work fine as long your installed mods didn't change any of the default phpBB columns in the database. If your attachment mod changed the way attachments are stored, they will probably not be imported, but i can not give you a 100% sure answer on this. If the standard Import can not handle them, there might be a coder who can help you at vbulletin.org.
Want to take your board beyond the standard vBulletin features?
