SMF -> vBulletin

Hello, I'm already a vBulletin customer but I have a question before I buy another license:

I'm going to start off with SMF 1.0.5 and then I'll transfer to vBulletin, but from past experience, when I've transferred from SMF to vBulletin, all the users had to reset their passwords, and in return my forum died..

Is this going to happen again? or have you guys improved your import system?

I don't see a mentioning of passwords. Do you know how it encrypts passwords? MD5?
