  • Test instances for new shopping carts, article systems

I own one license of vBulletin, and want to make sure what I need to do to test out the next version of my website is legal.

Want the next version of my website being very content-driven by vBulletin + a new shopping cart.

    3 shopping carts to test

    osCommerce
    ZenCart,
    GeekMart when it goes RC1

    2 article systems to test

Was going to use vbArticles, but the author of that hack had a disk drive crash, and apparently lost everything, and future support and migration to 3.5.0 is uncertain.

Am going to test Geek Article & Review System (GARS)

vbAdvanced CMPS included article system / News module

To do this, I'd like to create 3 test instances of vBulletin 3.5.1 in a non-public testing area that I and 2 other people would access via an IP address and a subdirectory like:

    http:\\1.2.3.4\forums-zen
(for zen cart + GARS testing)

    http:\\1.2.3.4\forums-osc
(for osc + vbA CMPS testing)

    http:\\1.2.3.4\forums-geek
    (for geekmart testing)

    Is this OK?

    Pleeeeeeeeeease say yes!

Am trying to reduce the number of things going on to make troubleshooting easier!

You are only permitted a single installation of vBulletin per license you purchase. If you are looking at running 3 seperate vBulletin installations with the above (which is how it appears), you would need to have 3 seperate vBulletin licenses.

The one exception is a test board, though it could not be accessable by the public.

I really tried to make it clear in my post that these were going to be TEST instances, and NON-PUBLIC

      For example:

But in case that wasn't clear enough: They are going to be for testing. They are not going to be public.

I need to do a bake-off between a bunch of different tools that require vBuletin, in order to figure out which to install on my production instance.

My apologies , early mornings will do it after being up all night.

Technically and as per the license agreement, you are only permitted a single testing board which must be inaccessable to the public. You could run one live installation and use it for testing and then use the testing board you are allowed to run another private instance, though as per the license agreement, a third installation would not be allowed.
