Maybe, he's talking anout phpBB2 and vBulletin (our system) but I can't be COMPLETELY sure about 'VP' It's either what I just said, or not.

If I spend much more time browsing these forums, I could be subjected to: 1. Burnt retinas, 2. Angry customers, 3. Lack of moderation, 4. Arguments.
This used to be a nice place; what the hell's gone wrong?

Are you talking about Bulletin Board Version 2? If so, that is PERL-based, whereas vBulletin is PHP-based.

A comparsion would be hard to offer directly, phpBB2 is old, and out dated, was/is designed for php3/4. It is also open source, while being free, you are not garunteed a thing besides the script itself.

vBulletin is a paid software, and with that payment comes swift development and a level of support that is not possible with an open source product like phpBB.

If you haven't yet try out our admin demo
http://www.vbulletin.com/admindemo and let me know if you have any further questions.

              extra question

one extra question I had was - is it possible to put a clear link at the top of the page to take people back to a particular webpage where they came from? (a clear URL link with a title?)

              Thanks

phpbb has a plague of security issues.
