database is about 800 MB, Attachments are 141MB

if you do an SQL dump, the size of that text file is basically your database size. My SQL dump is about 70 mb right now, that's not including the php files. The database has a lot of info, including configuration, user info, posts info/text, thread info, PM text, style, etc. THe size of the database varies, as mentioned above, due to the amount of posts, users, PMs, and many other variables.

I don't know what you're asking. The datsbase can contain attachments, unless you use the option to move them to the file system, but they default to the database. Same with Avatars and Profile pictures.

well the database just includes the user info and post info right? Minus all the php files and attachments, wouldn't the database be much smaller?

My actual database is about 400megs, as noted above. It will vary depending on how many users/posts/threads/etc that you have.

What should only be about 20megs? My site is over 4gigs, plus the mySQL database.

My database is 200mb big, including attachments, and I have over 100,000 posts.
