vBulletin Vs PHP Nuke

Can some kind soul give a brief summary of the main functionality differences between vBulletin and Php Nuke ie what does each have that the other doesnt?

I am aware that Php Nuke is essentially a hacked PhpBB forum with a CMS wrap around, however I dont know the detail of the hacks applied to Php Nuke.

vBulletin is a forum system.


phpnuke is nuke coding, which is gernerally a CMS system with differnt modules.

and with postnuke/phpnuke you get tons of free security vulnerabilities. Then there are the tons of inefficient MySQL queries that can (and usually do) bring even the most robust server to its knees.

NOTE: I do not work for Jelsoft. If I did, my response would be "With vBulletin, security is a top priority, followed by efficient use of server resources."

Agreed, it's more of a Nuke to your server than anything else, hehe.

vBulletin is the best forum software IMO.

Thanks for the responses they are useful but they do not drill into the specifics of my question visa vis the fuctionality differences between the two. Php Nuke has PhpBB at its core but it is a hacked version so presumable it has much of the functionality of vBulletin.

No, this is not my space but I aint that bad! Becase Ive read that at its core it has a hacked version of PhpBB derived from version 2.0.11, also a couple of Php Nuke fora that I have seen looked very PhpBB

PHP Nuke/PostNuke/<insert-word-here>Nuke is portal software. They are nothing like vBulletin.

vBulletin is community (forum) software.

phpBB is community (forum) software. It's just that phpBB was integrated with the *Nuke portals. The only reason phpBB is the module of choice for those portals is because it's free.

I'm sure if you look, there's also a vBulletin module out there for the *Nuke portals as well.

But, as stated earlier, the *Nuke portals have security issues, and when you stick another piece of software on top of that, that's going to add more security issues.
