A few questions before I buy this product !

A few questions, if you don´t mind.

1. Does Vbulletin run well on Windows server with MSSQL or would you recommend a move to a Linux server with MYSQL ?
2. Is there support available for the converters ?
3. Doesn´t the code work after 1 year on a leased license ?
4. If no to 3, can I just upgrade to owned license then, or do I have to buy a owned license to start with ?

1. vBulletin runs very well on a Windows server. But not with MSSQL, MySQL is required.
2. Yes, we give free support for the ImpEx software.
3. No, it will work after 12 months, but by law you are not allowed to keep running it. We get a notification if you still run it after 12 months.
4. You can renew the leased license for another 12 months, or upgrade to a owned license. (Or stop using vBulletin)

One last question, is there a limited free version which I can use just to test it on the server. I ran a vb_test.php and it gave me 1 error:

There is no version you can download for testing purposes. I too got the magic quotes fails message when i tried the test script, however it appears that vB will still work fine without it. My vB forums have been working now for a week without a hitch and the members are loving all the new features they have.

A few more questions:

1. Regarding the leased license - if I start with that, and then after a year upgrade to a full license, will I only be charged for the difference, or do I pay a full price for a full license after a year ?

2. After the Snitz conversion I read that all passwords are reset, do that mean they are empty or do the converter just select a random passwords, that users have to obtain by mail?

If you buy a leased license, you can upgrade to a owned license for $85 within the first 30 days after the purchase.

If you buy a leasee license, you can upgrade at any point to a owned license for $160.

iirc, Snitz uses a different hashing method than the one vbulletin uses so after the import, your users will need to request a password reset via email.

A couple of tips -- be sure to backup your db before and after you convert and if you can, you may want to give your users a few days to make sure thier email accounts are upto date.
