Convert ipb 2.0.3 to vbulletin 3

Well before I make the conversion I just need to know a few things.
    1. When will the next release of impex be made availible?
    2. When will there be an impex version that does not require conversion?
    3. How much better is vbulletin on resources than ipb2?

If all these questions are answered I will be gratefull.

    1) Release dates are never announced until they officially release the software. We vb owners and them (jelsoft) will most likely be unable to answer the first question.
    2) ImpEx will have to convert your old database to a VB read-able format before you can use your old db for vb. Thus, ImpEx will always have to convert, and you will most likely never get a version of ImpEx that does not require conversion.
    3) There have been no official comparison of the two products, but from personal experiences and what I've seen around the web, bigger forums tends to favor VB more than IPB. This, however, is no numeric values / data for solid comparison though...

    Cheers.
    Best Regards,

Unfortunately, never. IPB handles passwords differently than how vBulletin does. Unless IPB decides to change its method of encryption to a style vBulletin uses, it's not going to happen.

Best of luck on your purchase.

Yeah, IPB handles them in a very stupid way. The funniest thing is: they are proud of it.
My friend, a good hacker (though he had never done anything illegal; just for fun), had been able to recover the IPB password in something like 2 minutes, while it took him a lot of time only getting into vBulletin's DB.

IBP 1's passwords come over as for the most part they are standard MD5's IPB2's uses almost the same method as vBulletin but for some funky reason they also md5 the hash and use that md5 making it near impossible to import the passwords, as we only use a 4 character random salt.
