Actually we have a forum that share the music pieces created by users. The music only play if you open the creator's thread.

    ..........................

After we went thru the vb files structure, I notice that upload file names have extension "attach" in file system, whereas the original names retain their names within database.

If I buy vb, is it possible for me to have some instruction of how we can be able to keep the original extension. We are fine with the file names.

    Thanks

From the information that I gather, media files are not being played in threads. It will be displayed as a link that users can download.

I have searched left and right, and I found that there aren't any hack or mod. From helping my friend with his site, the most I can do is being able to display flash inside users threads.

I am looking for more flexibilities in playing all type of media files within vb threads. and I am willing to pay for the license if I am able to achieve this with vb.

basically you step into the attachment management, and add those extensions you want to support and define their sizes.

However just an FYI, don't allow any illegal activity to be conducted on ur board (like exchanging copyrighted MP3s/Music/Videos) cause it could void your vBulletin license

Anything is possible if you hack the boards using the resources at http://www.vbulletin.org (the official source for resources on how to hack your boards).

I hope I don't bug you with all questions here.

I plan to create another forum that user has the capability to upload and listen to wma, wmv, media files, etc.

So far, I don't see that member has the any capabilities to do this.

Is it possible to have this kind of feature in vb? If vb does, how am able to configure this?

    Thanx

As long as you keep track of what you hacked and note the php files accordingly, re-hacking your board shouldn't be a problem.

I manually added alot of hacks to a fresh install of the latest vb3 and it didnt take much time at all. The dev's note which files have changed making it even simpler.

There are methods you can use to expediate updating a hacked board, but there is nothing completely automated for this.

From what I have seen, bb code for flash only support linking to the flash files that are hosted somewhere.

I want my members to be able to upload and play it inside their threads.

In addition, I am helping my friend with his site and I notice that we have to spend a lot time to reinstall hack and mods with the new upgrade. Is there anyway that we can keep the hack and mods while keeping the forum up-to-date?

    Thanks

Yes, if you really want to, you can create a BB code to put flash objects onto the page.

vBulletin's system lets users upload attchments, they can be saved either in the filesystem or in the database.

The reason vBulletin renames them is to prevent leaching and keep track of the attachments as well

started a topic Question Before Buying!!!

    Question Before Buying!!!

After playing and compare phpbb against vb, I noticed a couple differences.

phpbb can be able to upload and play flash file inside the posts without enabling html.

    >>> Can vb play flash file the same thing?

phpbb has the capability of saving attachment file to one directory with the file name intact. vb has the option of moving attached file from database to directory but it renames the files.

    >>> Can vb achieve the same thing as phpbb?
