  • Do you recommend getting vb for new community?

Considering you have to pay a fair amount of money for a vB, do you recommend getting one for a community which hasn't even been created yet (hence getting the forum software). Opinions?

It is generally easier for your users to start on a specific forum software and use it to the end, as compared to starting on one forum software and switching to another.

    ...If that made sense...

Yeah it makes sense. Converting isn't that difficult though, except I'd have to redo the whole site to get it integrate it with the new software from the old one.

Yes you pay a 'fair' amount for vB...a *very* fair amount when you consider how much you get in return!

Just having a forum that uses vb adds so much to your site's credibility that that alone is worth the licence price, before you even look at the features and other benefits.

That's funny. It seems all vB communities I run into are usually doing quite well, and are very popular. Pretty interesting . And vB seems to integrate very well with the rest of the site, from the sites I've seen do this.

I got vB when only like 10 people visited my site monthly. It took me like 2-3 months to get it active and normal =/, but i'm happy

vbulletin communities are also well respected too, I think a lot of members would prefer to register and use a vbulletin community rather than some other software for some reason. I have noticed that in the past.

and yes its a hefty amount of cash to pay for, that was my xbox money!!!!!

but I dont ahve to pay that much ever again except for like $30 a year not bad.:P

I started several communities from scratch using vBulletin, they are a success!
I have started several communities from scratch using alternative forum software, and they all had to convert to vBulletin to become a success.

Well I'm pretty much convinced getting a vB for a new community is good idea. Now I gotta talk myself into wanting to pay for it . I see a whole lot more advantages to getting it than not getting it. Let's just wait and see... Thanks all for your opinions!
