    hololith powered forums

I'm sorry if I'm being a thorn in your side, but a few months back i reported <site reported> to you guys because they are using a manufactured pirated version of vbulletin entitled "hololith" .

Well, i'm just curious if there is an extra level of difficulty which comes with shutting these types of forums down.

All the best, keep up the good work with vbulletin.

    love,
    mikey

Kepe reporting them. We've had a change in piracy agencies becsause the last ones were no longer doing an adequate job.

Also I hope you realize that we are not all-powerful and cannot shut down sites all by ourselves. It does require the cooperation of the web hosting companies, some of which are more cooperative tham others.

well, after speaking with a few people who know about the guy who co-runs the site, it seems the other co-owner is good friends with the hosting company.

In addition to that, the hosting company owns the network / ip block it's hosted on.

There is also the Datacenter, regardless, mosts hosts wont risk their server(s) over somthing like a signle instaltion of vBulletin.

they own the ip block / network / datacenter.

i've sent emails to the host over information they post where they slander me, and they haven't done a thing yet.

I have also contacted them regarding other issues like possibly underage model, as well as webmasters / models not being paid.

Because they own a datacenter doesn't mean they can get away with it.

If you search hololith on google you will see that the top 20 results are now either 404 or using actual vBulletin forums.

No, they steal the software, remove the license details and replace the copyright with their own name and distribute it illegally to users who don't want to pay for commercial software.

We are fully aware of the Hololith issue. As Floris said, please report suspected pirate sites here:

I see no need to give these people any more free advertising so I'm going to close this now.
