    1. I was wondering if the latest version of VB can put the avatar and user info in the left column like it used to be without hacking? Is it an option that can be checkmarked or selected so that info is to the left of the users post?

No disrespect, but on top of the post is horrible and only creates longer scrolling.

    2. I assume this is yes, but wanted to make sure. You can allow different headers and footers for each forum correct?

    3. If I was converting a early 2.xx forum to the latest version, would the thread paths stay the same? I am very concerned with indexing my site has already received as well as other sites linking to posts and wanted to know if thread links have changed between 2.xx and the current version of VB?

    4. Is there any type of official and/or unofficial service that could be done to "mod" a 2.xx board so that it has the security of the latest VB? I don't care much for any new features, but am interested in the security. Is this even possible? (It's a highly modded forum and is in now way a new installation of a 2.xx VB.)

    5. Is there any type of fully feature list that the latest version of VB offers? I know the frontpage says a short list of "key features", but I was wondering about some big things that have been changed from an early 2.xx board. I don't know much about what has changed other than the new version has the (disliked) view of threads and allows for multiple images to be attached. I was hoping for something I could look at to help me make my decision.

    Thanks a bunch!

Since you state you are already running a vB forum, to get vB support on these forums you first need to be a licensed customer and register for Priority Forum Support. To do this, please go here:

    http://www.vbulletin.com/members/mem...t_priority.php

...and enter your email address in one of the boxes. You'll need to have your customer number and password to access the page.

If you still have problems after doing this, send an email to [email protected]. Please include your user name, the email address you registered with and your customer number so we can fix the problem.

Actually, this is for another site, but I comment on past experiences with VB that I have running. I will not currently be upgrading my account. I will be purchasing a new full account to run on another domain and wanted all my questions I had, asked at the same time. Then it will help me decide what I will be purchasing. 1 upgrade maybe, and 1 new license for the other site, but I wish to have these questions answered first.

I do not wish to be logged and tracked over everything I do on your site. Isn't asking an anonymous question allowed?

        1. Yes its an admin option.
        2. Yes you'd have to either use template conditions (new thing in vB3) or make a new style for each forum but luckily templates are inherited so you could just make a child style for each forum.
        3. The urls haven't changed still using showthread / forumdisplay
        4. We dont provide any modding services but the best thing to do would be to place a .htaccess file in the admin directory so that HTTP authentication is required in addition to an admin username and password.
        5. First post in http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62743 is best for features.

What exactly do you mean by ".htaccess file in the admin directory so that HTTP authentication is required in addition to an admin username and password."

How and or what do I need to have the .htaccess have in it?

          Thanks.

You dont require it but you can use HTTP Authentication which is a feature of the apache webserver which I'll presume your using since its the most popular.

            is the best tutorial.
