    While it may have originated in 3.x, it is still a bug in 4.0 - and therefore should be marked as such and fixed.

    I don't know why it isn't fixed and marked as not a bug. Except that it may be outside the scope of the current editor to fix it. This is not a vBulletin 4.0 bug, it goes back into the 3.X series. Just the previous layout contained the badly generated code a little better.

    It's marked as 'Not a Bug'.

    This is actually an old bug that goes back into the vBulletin 3.X series and has to do with how vBulletin parses BBCode. The issue didn't manifest as widely in 3.X because of the containing tables and how browsers dealt with that code. Moving to semantic coding has made it more prominent.

    It is something the developers are working on. There is already a bug logged on this issue.

    The correct format to use a quote within list is

    [LIST=1][*]This is the start of my list[*][quote]This is a peice of my list I want to quote[/quote][/list]

    html output will be
    HTML Code:
    <ol>
    	<li>This is the start of my list</li>
    	<li>
    		<div class="bbcode">
    			This is a peice of my list I want to quote
    		</div>
    	</li>
    </ol>
    If you use the following , it will surely break the page layout as the html will be broken

    [LIST=1][*]This is the start of my list
    [quote][*]This is a peice of my list I want to quote[/quote][/list]

    HTML Code:
    <ol>
    	<li>This is the start of my list</li>
    	<div class="bbcode">
    		<li>This is a peice of my list I want to quote</li>
    	</div>
    </ol>

    You use the noparse tags to show the bbcode without having to actually break it with a space or something
