  • Only pre-sales forum for non-licensed customers

Think I may have suggested this before, but I think it makes sense to limit non-licensed customers to the pre-sales forum only.

At the mo we don't know whether some people are genuine customers or not, in places like the announcements discussion threads/suggestions/even general chat.

On your previous suggestions, we have evaluated the current permissions and have decided to leave them as they are. This was even mentioned at one point in the vBulletin 4 discussion thread.

I don't think we will be changing this in the foreseeable future.

I think vB team said if an user post a problem in a forum which isn't made for a problem, it is an unlicensed user. If the user posts correctly his/her problem in the correct forum, the user is licensed.

Announcements / Suggestions / General chat are not for support.

Indeed, in the non support forums one should just ignore the support questions posted, just link them to the sticky thread explaining how to get support the right way.

It's more to spot 'trolls' or those who are actual customers and those who are not.

Vicros - I did wonder lol, and if this suggestion was in place I needn't have.

Guys I think you need to re think your way of handling everyone from registering. We have had a few spammers lately and I know it's good to report them, it can be annoying just to read somebody's posts that are spam.
You might have to come up with some question and answer things just to trump the spammers from registering.

That reminds me, why doesn't vBulletin.com use question and answer verification? It is a built in feature, and the drop in spam it would cause here might influence more people to buy vBulletin licenses.

Getting back on topic I don't think it would be ideal to have the new registered users just viewing the pre-sales board. They need to be able to see what it is like from other vB owners as well.

A couple of suggestions though just to help you guys out.
I really do suggest that you lengthen the demo board's time limit from 24 hours to 30 days. Just so that more people can check the board out for themselves and have more access to it. If the person doesn't have a CC (credit card) have an affiliation program where they have to go with a sponsored product (google adsense for example) as payment to the board. Good for the youngsters.
Instead of having your links down the bottom of the page, have them as part of your board so that people don't have to scroll down to the bottom to go and purchase their own board.
When you have something new come out great that you have announced it but have it as a global announcement so that everyone can see it.
