  • language bugs in vBulletin 3

    Dear vBulletin team,
I found all this bugs while I was trying to translate the vbulletin-language.xml file
    1. all the below phrases does not support multi-languages (only in english)
      1. phrase Resolve Address in ./includes/adminfunctions_user.php
        PHP Code:
        <a href=\"$userscript?$session[sessionurl]do=gethost&amp;ip=$user[ipaddress]\" title=\"Resolve Address\">$user[ipaddress]</a>
        and
        PHP Code:
        <a href=\"$userscript?$session[sessionurl]do=gethost&amp;ip=$ip[ipaddress]\" title=\"Resolve Address\">$ip[ipaddress]</a>
        in the same file

      2. phrase Collapse Group in ./includes/adminfunctions_navpanel.php
        PHP Code:
        $tooltip 'Collapse Group'
and phrase Expand Group in the same file
        PHP Code:
        $tooltip 'Expand Group'

    2. all the below phrases does not work correctly (in vbulletin-language.xml file)
      1. phrase vb_censor_explain in FAQ Text phrase type
there are the characters **** does not change when I change censor char in settings.

      2. phrase accountlocked in Email Body Text phrase type
and strikes in Front-End Error Messages phrase type
there are the number 15 does not change when I change the rum time of cron ./includes/cron/removebans.php in scheduled tasks.

      3. phrase setting_attachmentviewslive_desc in vBulletin Settings phrase type
there are the string or once an hour does not change when I change the rum time of cron ./includes/cron/cleanup*.php in scheduled tasks.

    3. all the below files does not support multi-languages (only in english)
      1. file functions.php in ./includes
I found this phrase Could not find phrase
It can't inserted into vbulletin-language.xml file
because it display when any phrase does not found
so if it was not found
solution is in the 2nd bug of this post.

      2. file db_mysql.php in ./includes
I found many phrases can't inserted into vbulletin-language.xml file
because it display when connection failed (halt messages)
so if it was not found what can displayed
        solution:
you may create new file called vbulletin-language.php in ./includes
and put all the phrases ( that can't put into language file ) into it (except install and upgrade phrases)
that's I think and you may have better than this

    4. the last bug is into html tags in the vbulletin-language.xml file
      search for
      <br>
      and replace it with
      <br />

    Good luck.

          Hello,

Thank you for your feedback. It would help us if you could inform me the URL to your vBulletin powered web site and if you tell us which version you are running.

Please submit these in the appropiate bug tracker and also since you are running vBulletin (so it seems) please go to the members area, click on priority support and enter the email address you registered with on this web site in the input field. You currently show up unlicensed.

Also, don't edit the .xml file directly - edit the phrases through the language/phrase manager.

Thank you for reporting these issues, once I know the URL to your forum, and which version you are running I will confirm them and report them to the developers.

The bug tracker is fabulous, but I've seen the suggestion in reply to a customer to submit them to the bug tracker several times. Remembering the old bug report system, you'd post in the troubleshooting forum and if it was confirmed a bug, the thread was moved to the official bug forum.

I know you folks are really busy, but can it be set up at some point that the mods could move confirmed bugs from the forum to the bug tracker?

Also, where do feature requests go?

Into the sub.forum of the Suggestions and Feedback forum, that is, if it will be considered for a future version.

Currently there is no optiion to move threads to the bug tracker.
