  • Documentation comments - in queue forever?

    Hi

I just wanted to ask if the user comments queue of the documentation is actually ever looked through?
I posted two comments a few weeks ago and when I was looking through the documentation again today I saw that neither has been posted... I could have used one of those comments myself (again )

    Thanks for your time.
    Best Regards

From time to time we go through the moderation queue and read up about the comments and decide to either post them, process them into the documentation directly or we have an argument why we can ignore it (for example 'not relevent'.)

I know (because I am working on the manual myself) that we are putting focus on completing a few parts of the manual and moderating feedback might get a bit slower.

Do you remember to which page you placed a comment? (and by which name and/or email) I could have a look for you.

Having said all that, it is quite possible we have read it and processed it but it isn't on-line yet. We upgrade the live version from time to time and not every day.

I posted a comment on the collapsing elements page today, on the collapsing tables page a while ago and another one somewhere else, I *think* it could have been template conditionals.

Name should always have been Colin and email most probably colin at oleco .dot. net

What's more important to me is that I see other peoples tips, as thats the most likely way for me to learn something
      Thanks for your help.

Actually I think we've just forgotten to do them as its a seperate system.

I'll go through and do some today.

It still seems to me as if this hasn't gotten anywhere. I look through the documentation often and still post comments once in a while, but I've still to see one of those published...

That seems kind of sad to me, as the documentation would be great otherwise (allthough there still are things missing...)

Actually, I think only a few developers currently have access to the documentation comment system (as it is still on a seperate system). But through time we've processed a few feedbacks already which are included in the latest update of the manual, or at least updated the actual content of the manual after reading some feedback.

Hopefully we're able to go through all the feedback in the near future, and hopefully all the staff is able to do so.

I think priority lies with the latest (future) version development, rather then documentation, which might explain the delays. Good of you to bump it as hopefully Scott and Kier could take another look at the documentation system when they have more time. (I support your bump!)

I'm happy to see that comments have been updated.

Only problem now is that it seems they've just been validated and not actually moderated.
I wrote some comments to editors, about mistakes in the actual documentation. It would make more sense to actualy update those parts of it instead of just validating the comment.

We will approve any valid comments when we see them in the queue. This allows any corrections noted to be handled immediately. The manual text will be updated when time allows as it is a large endeavor in itself.
