  • All my images are missing (the dread red x)

    Windows98
    Personal Web Server
Latest versions of PHP and mySQL

I installed PHP and mySQL just fine.

I installed vBlite without incident. It's up and running. I can make posts, etc.

However, none of the images are being shown. The title and the button images (for "start new thread" etc.) are all missing. I just get the standard Internet Explorer notation for a missing image: the recessed outline of where the image should be with a little white piece of paper with the red X on it. It's as if the program is looking in the wrong place for the image files.

My directory structure is as follows:

    /wwwroot/cgi-bin/vblite/admin
    &
    /wwwroot/cgi-bin/vblite/images

I preserved the directory structure. All the images are actually in the images folder. I just can't access them, apparently.

Again, the board functions perfectly in every other way. What can I do?

    Thanks.

I've never installed vb Lite but try moving your images out of your cgi-bin dir, your server permissions could be whats doing that.......

Thanks. I'll try that if I can ever get my server to recognize .php scripts again.

Well, I "fixed" it. Though it was really strange. I think it had to do with the fact that I was stuffing so much stuff in my root's cgi-bin folder.

Essentially, I deleted everything and re-installed in a new folder outside my cgi-bin. Everything works now.

        Thanks for you help.
