    How random is that! I did as you said, and disabled all plugins in the config.php

    I then attempted a visitor message with my normal style we use, and it worked. So i re-enabled the plugins and tried again, and it still works. Must have been an out of date php file i guess.

    Thanks for all your help.

    To troubleshoot this, first reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Versions' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version and that none show 'File does not contain expected contents':

    Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

    [Note: In some cases you may also need to remove any of the listed .xml files in the includes/xml directory.]

    Next, disable all plugins.

    Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

    define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

    Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it.

    Do you have the same problem?

    Ok i disabled it, but still the problem persists. I cannot post visitor messages anymore, it just keeps saying please wait, and does nothing else. Any other ideas?

    I did it and still no fix, so i went to diagnostics and ran Problematic Webserver Modules which is showing up that mod_security is stopping some ajax features working.

    So now i'm trying to hunt down a solution to turning it off!

    I would. It won't hurt.

    Should i repair and optimise all tables? Or is there a certain one to do?

    I'm not aware of any maintenance routines that would fix this. However you can try running repair/optimize to see if that helps. Otherwise I would suspect a modification.

    Visitor messages not posting after server move

    Hello, i have just moved from a windows server to a linux one recently and everything went smoothly. However at the moment, when someone posts a visitor message on someones profile, They get the 'Posting Message, please wait' message and that is it. It never posts or updates the screen.

    Is there something in the maintanance section i need to run or anything else to do to fix this? It was working fine before the server move obviously! Thanks.
