There are no htaccess files included with the default vBulletin package.

There are none so you should be good to go, your server has one by default

I CANT FTP TO MY SITE!!
i read that you said that there's no htaccess file with the default package. ok. but apparently there's one on mine now, i think cuz i put the spambot filters on or something and well...when i try to upload a new htaccess file to my forum-root it says i have one that was last updated a couple weeks ago, which i have no recollection of doing (but like i said i think it was the spambot filters via admincp)... i know from the past if you replace your htaccess or remove it it will screw things up.

oh, i cant ftp cuz the internet connection im on doesnt allow p2p or ftp. all i have is cpanel and it doesnt view .htaccess files (or i just dont know how)...

          please advise!

cPanel does allow you to view invisible files.
            Hmmm? Sounds wierd.

When you go to your file manager in cPanel wasn't there a choice whether to see invisible files? A file starting with a dot is considered invisible.

You or your host may have edited your .htaccess file unknowingly.
