  • Problem with Social Bookmarking Manager

    When adding a new site (in this case Facebook), the code is

    HTML Code:
    http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u={URL}&t={TITLE}
    But VB changes it to

    HTML Code:
    http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u={URL}&t={TITLE}
    & turns into & which breaks the URL

    For security reasons & should be & in all urls you share with users.

    It seems facebook doens't support & in their urls.

      So to manually change it to &, we should just edit the database directly? Or is there a setting we can change so it doesn't convert?

        Could you show me an example of what you mean with "it breaks" ?

          Well the URL should be &t={TITLE}, not &t={TITLE}. As soon as I click "Save" when editing the entry, it changes it to &t={TITLE}. That is what I mean "it breaks". It changes the text in the text entry box.

          Not sure how I can be more clear, sorry.

            Yes, so it doesn't actually "break", it still works. It just makes it secure by changing & into & which it should be, for security reasons.

              No, it's broken. & doesn't work, because it gets changed (aka "broken") by VBulletin. It may be your opinion that it "should" be that way, but that breaks the URL. Is there a way to prevent this or not?

                No, there's not a way to prevent this. It's the browser and the end site that has to support & - which almost every browser does, and every site. I guess the custom script by facebook doesn't take special entities. Which is surprising, since they say they're a 2.0 company.

                  Outcome = No Facebook?

                  So is the outcome of all of this that it is not (at least not now) possible to add Facebook to the Social Bookmarking Marker section of 3.7.3?

                  Or is there a way to do this?

                  Thanks!

                    Has anyone found a way for Facebook to be added to social bookmarking or not?

                      I have facebook added to my 3.7.3 PL1 social bookmarking. And it works just fine. I don't get Facebook to tell me that & is wrong. Which is what kind of confuses me here. & or & should not matter.
