We have a dedicated server pretty much running our vB forum and that's it. Starting about a month ago, we've noticed this issue where mysql just gets stuck on query, and all hell breaks loose. Once it gets stuck, nothing happens anymore, the processor load skyrockets, and then we have to do a reboot of the server because we can't even SSH anymore (because of the processor usage).
This problem came out of nowhere (new plugins were installed). We tried enabling the mysql slow logs but it doesn't really provide any useful information. It doesn't show any particular pattern or any particular query that's hosing the system. Honestly I can't remember if it started in 3.6 or 3.7 (we're running 3.7.1 right now). I was wondering if any of you guys have encountered an issue like this. For the time being, we're going to start disabling some of our older plugins to see if it helps (but I'm skeptical because this problem came from seemingly no where, not after installing a plugin). I'd say we run into this issue about once a week, where the whole server collapses on itself because of mysql.
