Not getting email notifications. . .

I have 3 vbulletin boards on 3 different sites. I am not getting email notifications for new members or pms like I was. Just checked with another admin from my sites and it is the same with them. Help please?

vB uses the server for it's email. If there are problems, then the issue is either with the server itself or on the receiving end.

Make sure those notification options are set correctly:

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> User Registration Options -> Email Address to Notify About New Members

User CP -> Edit Options -> Receive Email Notification of New Private Messages

Or maybe the email functions aren't working. Try a test email:

Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Email

Are any errors reported? Do you receive the email? Try sending a test email to multiple different addresses to ensure that it's not a spam filter problem.

If errors are reported then you need to contact your host to ensure that mail functions are working. Or you can manually specify a SMTP server in your:

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> Email Options

If no errors are reported but you don't receive the email then it's probably a spam filter problem. If you want to make sure the emails are being delivered then you need to consult with your web host to check the mail logs.

I am experiencing the same problem and can not figure out what is wrong. When I do a test email, I receive the test email from the forum. However, when I post a test message, I do not get an email notification of the new message.

I checked and I did enter the email for the forum to send notification to in the Forum & Moderators - Forum Manager - Edit Forum.

        This is just so strange.

You won't get a post notification if you posted it - you've already seen it

Create a test user account and repeat the process.

            Hi Lats,

That is what I did. I test by creating new members also and I don't get the email as the admin, or the new member does not get the email either as the new register member even though the forum said an email was sent to the user's adress.

When I logged in as one of the active members and posted, the admin does not get an email notification.

But when I sent a test email, I do receive it.

So at this point, I don't know what is wrong. If this is a server issue, then I should not get the test email at all.

Can you check your server logs, or are you sending them to gmail where they're maybe getting tagged as spam?

                Lats,

I am sending to a yahoo account but I check my spam folder and don't find any emails from the forum.

This is so strange. I have been scratching my head in the last few days trying to figure out what is wrong.

I suggest escalating the issue to your host, get them to check the server logs. They may have misconfigured exim.
