    Corrupt English Language

    Hi
    To cut a long story short I made a mistake causing me to do a separate install of vB and migrate the data over table by table (some tables were damaged).

    The forum is working well now except for what I feel is a language problem. I tried to import the vbulletin-language.xml file and received the following database error (some details have been removed for posting)

    Code:
    Database error in vBulletin 3.7.2:

    Invalid SQL:

                SELECT fieldname, varname, text
                FROM phrase
                WHERE languageid IN(-1,0) AND
                    fieldname IN ();

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Try importing the language using the tools file.

    First upload the original install/vbulletin-language.xml file from the zip file. Then go into the do_not_upload folder in the zip file. Upload the tools.php file to the install directory on your server. Run the tools.php file in your browser and select the option to reimport the language. Delete the tools file when you are done.

    That might fix it, although it looks like there might be a more serious problem with the database schema. I recommend restoring a good backup instead of trying to manually repair the database.

      Thanks Jake but unfortunately my hosting Co has informed me that the last backup they did was nearly 2 weeks ago - not good!

        Restoring any backup involves the loss of recent data, but it is better than nothing at all. You can always make more regular backups to cover yourself in the worst case.
