Probleming backing up my tables

I've been trying to backup my vbulletin tables to this path: ./forumbackup-08-10-2008-9dd28.sql

But I keep getting an error: Unable to write backup to file ./forumbackup-08-10-2008-9dd28.sql. This file or the directory this file is in must be world writable!

My knowledge here is very small, can someone please help me figure out how to get this fixed? I tried making a folder on my hosting space that had 0777 permissions but I couldn't get it to upload the back there.

What do I need to do?

You would need to chmod the admincp directory to 777.


The only consistently reliable method of backing up and restoring a database is with shell access via telnet or ssh. This is because backing up with a PHP script like that in the Admin CP or phpMyAdmin can result in PHP timeout errors and an incomplete backup file.
