    Vbulletin Database Error

Hey guys, been having this problem past 2 weeks and I can't figure out how to fix it. Here's the message that appears (some information I have marked with a * for security reasons).

That is a generic database connection error. If it's intermittent then you should contact your host about possible connectivity or uptime problems with the database. If it's persistent then you need to verify the MySQL info in your includes/config.php file with your host.

I'm getting the same error (intermittently) with an install that has been running about 2 weeks now. First two weeks have been smooth. Today, and a couple of days ago I got this same error.

I've opened a ticket with my host and they say "all is OK"

      Any ideas?

An intermittent database connection error is definitely a hosting problem, but it might be temporary. For example, maybe the database server was restarted.

My host reported back (after another error) that they "fixed the socket file". I have no idea what they did with "fixing" the socket file.

Yea, I wound up changing the config file. Originally I had it so just the MySQL user for that database was in there, changed to the master account name and password instead and I'm getting maybe 1-2 a week now. So thanks,
